⭐️Ukiyoe Masterpieces on Furoshiki
We have made furoshiki (wrapping cloth) from some of the most popular and well-known ukiyo-e designs of our time. We are particular about reproducibility, and each pattern is carefully expressed using around 10 molds.
⭐️Kyokutemari of a popular cat / Kuniyoshi Utagawa
This is a unique work by Kuniyoshi, a cat lover, in which an anthropomorphic cat performs a performance by Kikukawa Kunimaru, an acrobat who had a reputation in Edo. The performance depicts “Yaezakura,” in which the cat moves a ball (mari) over its body, and “Ranguguwatari,” in which the cat crosses a pile while kicking a ball with its cute paws.
Kyokyokute-mari” is an acrobatic performance in which a ball is kicked or tugged as a spectacle.
Because of its round shape, the ball has long been associated with the wish of parents that their children will grow up healthy and well rounded. There is also a custom to give a ball to a bride-to-be as a wedding present to pray for a happy life, such as a happy family and a happy marriage, and to make everything go smoothly.
