It is difficult to collect Kawase Hasui's woodblock prints, which were favored by Steven Jobs. The two sets of prints which I purchased from this shop closely reproduce the colors of the original. Jobs was devoted to Zen Buddhism, so he may have seen a Zen mind in the landscapes of Hasui's woodblock prints. When I look at Hasui's works, I am reminded of the haiku of Matsuo Basho, the creator of haiku, and the scenes from his travelogue, “The Narrow Road to Oku”, who translated by Donald Keen. Like Basho, Hasui was a man who traveled a lot and draw nature.
The Hasui prints in this shop are excellent. I would love to add them to my collection and highly recommend them.
