This temple of the Jodo sect was moved to Shiba when Ieyasu established the Tokugawa Shogunate.
After the end of the warring world with its many sacrifices, memorial services were held for the dead and prayers were offered for a peaceful future.
It is the family temple of the Shogun family, and Oe and her husband Hideyori, the main characters of the historical drama “E - Hime-tachi no Sengoku” are also buried here.
It is the only building that still retains its early Edo period appearance and is designated as a National Important Cultural Property.
Shiba Zojoji Temple is depicted in front of the temple gate of Zojoji Temple in a snowstorm.
