Hiraizumi” in Iwate Prefecture, where Konjikido is located, is registered as a World Heritage site.
In the late Heian period, Hiraizumi was a prosperous capital that rivaled the capital of Kyoto in size and splendor.
Chuson-ji Konjikido is a gorgeous hall filled with gold leaf and detailed mother-of-pearl inlay, as it is said to have been built to see the Paradise in this world.
In order to see paradise in this world, people of long ago ascended the long slopes and steps to the enclosure that protected Konjikido.
Hiraizumi Konjikido was Kawase Hasuii's last creation.
It is said that Tomoe Sui drew himself in the image of the monk climbing up the hill.
