Hiroshi Yoshida (1876 ~ 1950)
Hiroshi Yoshida is a painter known for his magnificent depictions of nature recognized in the United States.
The charm of Yoshida's work is the expression full of natural beauty that comes from his attitude and sincere efforts to draw together with nature.
When he drew a mountain, he stayed in the alpine valley for several months to capture the momentary beauty of the magnificent nature and waited for that moment.
It was his strong belief that it was only when he was united with nature that he could draw landscape paintings that impressed people.
The reason why he travels, paints landscapes, and crawls into the magnificent nature of the mountains is because of his love for people who cannot go to wonderful natural places to experience through painting.
The second half of the Expo was the creation of 250 types of woodblock prints.
He sought a woodblock print of the same quality as the oil painting he drew, and based on its realism, he created a new woodblock print that is unparalleled, such as 30 plates of multicolored prints, powerful large format, and color change printing with the same board. I created it.
Yoshida's work, which introduced the perspective of Western painting into old Japanese traditional woodblock prints and showed the high level of new systems and techniques, fascinated many celebrities such as Princess Diana, Soseki Natsume, Freud, and is still the world. It is gaining popularity.
Hiroshi Yoshida also left behind all of the woodblock print techniques he studied as a guide for future generations.
