Words of genius: Glenn Gould speaks

I watch YouTube every day as part of my routine.

It's something you get bored of.

Is there any new video that will inspire me?

And again, searching the same place again and again

This is what I found.

The words of geniuses are so stimulating and profound.

"I didn't want to do a concert in the first place.

I thought it was something I had to endure in order to build my reputation as a musician.

Because it might be useful later.

But I didn't think of it as a creative endeavor.

I liked the feeling of having power.

That was when I was about 14 or 15 years old.

I had a lot of fun back then.

Performing at your best in front of an enthusiastic audience.

The culmination of months of practice.

But I soon got bored of that.

Every few days at various venues

When you start playing

I'm getting pretty sick of this.

I was completely fed up and was doing pointless things.

I began to think that.

The best I can hope for is to challenge the records I've released.

I just aim to perform to a level that is as good as the record.

Concert activities will become a slacker.

Don't do anything new.

A repetition of the same familiar works every time.

I always end up cutting corners and trying to take the easy way out.

It's scary because it will lead to playing that lacks creativity.

It takes away the creativity.

Old age happens so quickly.

I couldn't stand it."

~Listening to it made me feel refreshed, so

After playing it over and over again, an idea occurred to me.

What if I said this about myself?

If you change the orange part to yourself,

"I didn't want to do a concert in the first place.

I thought it was something I had to endure in order to build my reputation as a musician .

Because it might be useful later.

Ah, I feel so refreshed.
